Treatment Approach
Dr. Ho draws primarily from a cognitive-behavioural approach but utilizes creative methods in adapting these approaches to children and youth. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is considered to be the gold-standard in treatment approaches. Treatments are individually tailored to your child’s needs and typically comprise of psychoeducation (i.e., teaching your child to identify their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours) and teaching of strategies. For treatment to be effective, it is important that your child is motivated to take part in treatment. Treatment sessions typically last from 8 to 15 sessions. Sessions generally involve a mix of parent and child components. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and your child on the first session.
