Psychoeducational Assessments
In addition to providing autism assessments, Dr. Ho also provides psychoeducational assessments. A psychoeducational assessment allows us to better understand how your child thinks and how your child learns at school. Sometimes, these assessments can lead to a diagnostic label-such as a specific learning disability- which can help with accessing appropriate supports at school.
Many families decide to seek out a psychoeducational assessment when they are concerned with the following:
-
- learning challenges at school
-
- difficulties with paying attention
-
- challenges with understanding instruction
-
- test anxiety
If you are concerned with any of the above, the first step should be to discuss your concerns with your child’s school and/or family doctor. Schools have the capacity to complete psychoeducational testing; however, the wait times are often long. Alternatively, parents may also decide to seek services privately.
Dr. Ho also provides cognitive functioning assessments (e.g., gifted testing) and adaptive functioning assessments for CLBC purposes. In addition, she offers combined assessments (i.e., autism and psychoeducational assessment). Please complete an intake form to learn more.
